Cameron Sinclair
PechaKucha Daily

And now for one of the presentations that capped the entire “Global PechaKucha Night for Haiti” event, Architecture for Humanity’s Cameron Sinclair walking us, step by step and in detail, on what exactly is required in order to rebuild Haiti.
The PechaKucha Presentation WAVE for Haiti started on 20th February in Auckland, New Zealand and 117 cities and 20 hours later it ended in San Francisco where Cameron Sinclair, founder of Architecture For Humanity, was ready to give one of the final PechaKucha Presentations on this amazing day for Haiti. Take it away Cameron!
And again, just a reminder that donations are still being accepted to help with the reconstruction efforts.

PechaKucha Daily

Today we bring two Haiti-related presentations to the PechaKucha Daily blog, starting with GEA-SAR’s “57 hours later…” presentation, shown at the PechaKucha Night in Istanbul on the night of our “Global PechaKucha Night for Haiti” event.

As soon as the team arrived at the city, they started to work on the debris of the biggest supermarket of the city. GEA-SAR operated 6 days working with the US SFTF2 team on the debris of the Caribbean Market and saved 5 lives. Problems for Lars Vilks
PechaKucha Daily

PechaKucha Night in Gothenburg organizer Jesper Larsson sends us this bit of terrifying news regarding one of the city’s previous presenters, artist Lars Vilks.
Threatened Swedish artist and previous PechaKucha Gothenburg presenter (Pecha Kucha GBG Vol #10) Lars Vilks says he’s not exactly “shaking with fear” despite the news from Ireland that police there on Tuesday arrested seven people for allegedly plotting to kill the Swede for a drawing he created three years ago which depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.
You can read more about the story here and here, and there’s also a Wikipedia entry on the topic. Vilks was a presenter at PKN Gothenburg Vol. 10, where he talked about his amazing “Nimis” installation (pictured).

Ryuji Nakamura
PechaKucha Daily

Following our Spanish presentation, here’s one in Japanese by designer Ryuji Nakamura, given at PechaKucha Night in Tokyo Vol. 69. Ryuji walks us through a few of his works, including the beautiful butterfly cage pictured above.
Nicolas Uribe
PechaKucha Daily

Today we’re going to highlight a couple of presentations NOT in English, in part to remind everyone that a PechaKucha presentation can be just as lively no matter the language, and whether you understand what is being said or not. Let’s kick things off then with Nicolas Uribe who presented his “Better than Picasso” in Spanish at last month’s PKN Bogota Vol. 6, which was held during our big “Global PechaKucha Night for Haiti” event. The city was able to raise more than $1,500 for the cause, and please feel free to add to the sum if you enjoy Nicolas’ presentation.
