PechaKucha Night gets a nice write-up in today’s edition of The Japan Times. The piece includes comments from a few of the presenters at last month’s edition (Vol. 59), with the online version also including a short video compilation of that night’s presentations.
This is as good a place as any to remind everyone that the PKN Tokyo mothership celebrates Vol. 60 tomorrow night — it should be a blast!

Tokyo by Tokyo is a new guidebook produced by Tokyo’s best — and some would say only — boutique hotel, Claska. The bilingual pocket-size tome features over 200 recommended spots in Tokyo, selected by 70 creators — what better way to get the inside line on the places you really should be checking out on a visit (or during an extended stay). Even better, the book links up with Google Maps — exact coordinates are found inside the guide.
It can be purchased online from Claska, but is also found in bookstores around the city. Below, a few images shown during a presentation on the book at PechaKucha Night in Tokyo Vol. 59.
Benjamin Work has been a graffiti artist for 11 years, and in his presentation at PechaKucha Night in Auckland Vol. 11 from late last year he talks about the evolution of his work — the “rebellion within the rebellion,” as he describes it — from gangsta to born again Christian, and how it affected his style. You can watch the entire presentation online.
PechaKucha Night in Auckland Vol. 12 is happening this Wednesday — see the city page for more details — and to give you an idea of just how diverse a PKN event can be, let’s look in on the list of scheduled presenters.

We’ve posted plenty of PechaKucha Night event reports, but this is probably the first “making of” coverage we see, courtesy of PKN Gdansk organizer Filip Kozarski. It’s great to see how things go down during those last hours of preparation — we cover the result here. We’re huge fans of the event poster that was created for that inaugural PKN Gdansk as well.
Gdansk held its very first PechaKucha Night earlier this month, and there is indeed a Flickr photoset to prove it. From organizer Filip Kozarski:
It was amazing! We had very interesting speakers and a big crowd — over 450 people sent me emails saying they wanted to come! The Wyspa Institute of Art is located in a former shipyard, and you still need to sign a list if you want to come, so I’m not sure how many of those people actually came, but i think over 300 easily — you can see on the photos. Everybody liked it very much; the audience, the speakers, people from Wyspa, and we of course!
